Funeral to Be Friday for Mrs. Ethel Bates Barter
Mrs. Ethel Bates Barter, 65-year-old McComb resident, died about 4:25 p.m. Wednesday at her home, 221 Twenty-first street, McComb, following a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, in the Southside Baptist church at McComb with the Rev. R. R. Jones, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Hollywood cemetery under the direction of Hartman funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be A. Robinson, Charles Lederer, H. M. Spivey, Hugh Montgomery, Lee Gatlin and M. Bowlin.
Mrs. Barter was born Feb. 11, 1876, near Peoria, Miss. She was married to Duncan Barter and has been a McComb resident the last 30 years.
Surviving are one son, Steve Barter, Hattiesburg; three daughters, Mrs. A. Whittington, New Orleans; Mrs. W. E. Tierney, New Orleans, and Mrs. Joe Terrell, New Orleans; four sisters, Mrs. Rae Bowlin, McComb; Mrs. Mattie Slocum, Baton Rouge; Mrs. Blanche Slocum, Baton Rouge; Mrs. Amora Jones, Jackson, La.; three brothers, G. A., R. S. and A. J. Bates, all of Peoria, Miss.
