Clark Kesler
BLACFOOT – Clark LeRoy Kesler, 76, auto dealership owner and longtime Blackfoot resident, died, May 22, 1987, at Bingham Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He had suffered from Parkinson's disease for many years.
He was born Nov. 9, 1910, at Beaver, Utah, son of Frederick Clark and Nettie May White Kesler. He attended schools at Milford, Utah.
He married Louiena Rebecca Patterson, Dec. 21, 1931, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They moved to Blackfoot where he opened a body and fender repair shop.
In June 1944, they purchased the Buick automobile dealership in Blackfoot. They later sold that dealership and bought the Chrysler-Plymouth Garage. In 1972, they sold the garage and their Blackfoot home and moved to Island Park, where he worked as a building contractor and real estate agent.
In 1974, they bought a home in St. George, Utah where they spent the winters. As his health began to fail they returned to Blackfoot in 1981 where they have lived since.
He was an active member of the LDS Church.
He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, and active in county and state Republican politics. He was instrumental in construction of the Blackfoot Municipal Golf Course.
Survivors are his wife, Louiena (Lou) of Blackfoot; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (LoRene) Dunn of Tyhee; two sons, Val J. Kesler of Sacramento, Calif.; and Fred C. Kesler of Camarillo, Calif.: three brothers, Ray W. Kesler and Ross Kesler, both of Jerome, and Jack W. Kesler of Blackfoot; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First-Eighth LDS Ward, 187 N. Ash St., with Bishop Jack Kesler conducting. Family will meet friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until time of services.
Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Cemetery in Idaho Falls under direction of Packham Mortuary. The family suggests memorial contribution be made to the United Parkinson Foundation, 360 W. Superior St., Chicago, Ill. 60610 or to the American Heart Association, 3295 Elder St. Boise, Idaho 83705.
