Her husband became an auto body repairman after some training in Salt Lake City. In 1943 they purchased a Buick automobile dealership which they sold in 1950. They then purchased a Chrysler and Plymouth dealership, which they operated until 1966. Lou worked in the dealerships as a parts woman, receptionist and bookkeeper.
She and her husband and children participated in boating, water skiing, fishing, camping, hunting and snow skiing. She was the first woman water skier who performed in a water ski show in Idaho Falls. They also owned vacation cabins in Island Park, Idaho, to where they moved in 1972. They also lived in St. George in 1979 and 1980.
After her husband died in 1987 she moved to Provo and then Spanish Fork, Utah, to be closer to her children. She lived with her oldest son and daughter-in-law in ElDorado Hills California, the last three years of her life before moving into a nursing home in Provo last November.
She was always active in the LDS Church serving in the YWMIA and Relief Society. She served two full time missions to the Washington D.C Temple in 1993 and 1996. Her three children were married in LDS Temples, as were most of her grandchildren. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed family gatherings and reunions. She will be missed by her descendants who are comforted to know that she has been reunited with her beloved husband.
Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Cemetery in Idaho Falls, Idaho on Thursday, March 2, 2006.
