Louis died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999 at his home.

He was born Aug. 3, 1911, to Peter and Margerite (Peters) Beier on the family homestead near Parker. He graduated from Parker High School and attended Sioux Falls College.

He married Arleen Monk on Jun. 1, 1936 in Parker.

They farmed in the Parker area until he took a position as farm manager at the State Training School in Plankinton in 1961. After holding the position for 10 years, they moved back to the Parker area and started a group home for boys, until his wife's death in 1980.

On Sep. 4, 1982, he married Kathryn Miller, Sioux Falls.

In their sixteen years together, they enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with their families.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Kathryn, Sioux Falls; two sons, Reed Beier and his wife, Bev, and Steve Beier and his wife, Cheryl, all of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Judy Krumbach and her husband, Lee, and Jane Schmidt and her husband, Del, all of Parker; three stepsons, Rich Miller and his wife Lynda, Lakewood, CO, Steve Miller and his wife Jean, Seattle, WA and Tom Miller and his wife Marilyn, Bemidji, MN; 11 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one sister, Edna Buchner, Salem, OR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
