FATAL MINING ACCIDENT
On Thursday afternoon, the 29th, Mr. Slatterly, bucket tender at the War Eagle mine, was killed instantly by falling to the bottom of the shaft, in that mine, a distance of 260 feet. There were three men at work at the bottom of the shaft, when the unfortunate man went crashing down among them, and strange to say not one of them was injured. Deceased was an Irishman, about 38 years of age, which is all we have been able to learn concerning him. He was a stranger in camp, having been here but a few days, and was on his first watch at the mine at the time of his untimely end.
