Roy Harold Kliem, 82, of Carrington, N.D., died March 18, 2004 at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Mr. Kliem was born Aug. 30, 1921, to August and Anna Kliem in Todd County, Minn. near Wadena, Minn. He was raised and attended country school in Todd County. He worked in the CCC camps in Minnesota as a young man. He then traveled to California and worked in the shipyards for a time. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. After his discharge, he worked for the Armor packing plant in Fargo. In the early 1950�s, he moved to Carrington and worked for area contractors. On Dec. 20, 1953, he married Bonnie C. Delger in Carrington. He worked for the Scheer Construction Company of Valley City, N.D., for 25 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a past member of the VFW and Carrington Legion.

Funeral services were March 23 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington with the Rev. Bruce Vold officiating. Interment was at the Carrington Cemetery with Evans Funeral Home, P.C. in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Jesse Carr, Nathan Carr, Jason Skadberg, Derrek Leapaldt, Jeremy Kliem and Ryan Kliem. All other grandsons are considered Honorary Bearers. Military honors were by the John Raymond O�Hara American Legion Post #25 and McCreary-Bonderrud VFW Post #3524 of Carrington.

Mr. Kliem is survived by this wife, Bonnie of Carrington; sons, Duane (Michelle) Kliem, Doran Kliem both of Carrington; Doug Kliem of Las Vegas, Nev.; Dale (Janelle) Kliem of Bismark, N.D.; Devin (Angie) Kliem of Wimbledon, N.D.; daughters, Gwen Carr, Minot, N.D.; Ginger (Paul) Skadberg, Georgia (Jay) Hendrickson, Gail Kliem, all of Carrington; Glenda (Brad) Odenbach of West Fargo, N.D.; Gay (Bryan) Leapaldt of Leeds, N.D.; Gerrie Kliem of New Rockford, N.D.; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two children from a previous marriage; Tom and Evonne, sister, Edith Timm of Springfield, Minn.

He is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; four brothers; one infant son and one infant granddaughter.

Roy Kliems first wife was Myrtle Vivian Brabec.
They had two children; Leroy Dennis Kliem born November 9, 1940 and died January 30, 1941 and a daughter Evone Elaine Kliem born November 5, 1941 both in Todd County. His obit also mentions a son Tom from this marriage.
