CECIL, SAM R. - 83, of Griffin, Ga., passed away on November 5, 1999 at Spalding Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late JOHN F. CECIL and the late EMMA ANGEL CECIL and moved to Scott County in 1919, where his brother, D.L. CECIL and wife PEGGY of Angel Valley still reside. Mr. CECIL was a retired professor of food science for the Georgia Experiment Station. He was a scout leader, past governor of the Griffin Moose Lodge, a member of several professional organizations, and a member of the Christian faith. He is survived by his wife, IDA A. CECIL; sons and daughter-in-law, CHARLES CECIL of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and JOHN MCINTOSH and JUDI WILLIS CECIL of Griffin, Ga.; grandchildren, LAURA CECIL, ANGELA CECIL, ANDY CECIL, and ADRIANE CECIL; a brother, D.L. CECIL of Oneida; a sister, FREDA RECTOR of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held on Monday, November 8, at 7:45 p.m. in the chapel of First United Methodist Church, in Griffin, Ga., with Dr. RICHARD LUMPKIN officiating.
