LCDR Durward Lindbergh "D.L."Cecil, age 83 of the Jellico Creek Community, passed away on Saturday June 5, 2010, at the Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

Born on January 15, 1927 he was the son of the late John Freeman Cecil and the late Sarah Emma Angel Cecil. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

He retired from the United States Navy after 24 years of Active Duty where he was stationed on 7 Air Craft Carriers and was given the nickname "Super Sonic Cecil". He was a past Worsherpal Master of the Oneida Lodge #695, a 33rd Degree Mason in Scottish Rite, past Worthy Patron of Sapphire Chapter #259, Owned & Operated Angel Valley Farms, and enjoyed raising Black Angus Cattle.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by One Infant Son: F.S. Cecil and Two Brothers: Samuel Reber Cecil and wife Ida Mae Cecil and Malvern Hill Cecil and wife Shirley Marcum Cecil.

He is survived by his wife of over 56 years: Peggy Sue Latham Cecil. Five Children: Carol Powell Horrar and husband Robert, Patricia Kathryn Manis and husband Kreis, Diane Lynn Ball and husband Aaron, Peggy Sue Sims and husband Randy, and Richard "Dinky" Cecil and wife Teresa. Ten Grandchildren: Wayne & Leslie Powell, Tyler & Kristie Manis, Katherine & Danielle Ball, Christy & Jason Veal, Sebastian Cecil, Jessica Cecil, and Kris & Emily Chambers. Three Great-Grandchildren: Kaden Parks, Rylan Collins, Gage Veal, many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

The Family will receive friends for visitation on Monday Evening June 7, 2010, after 5:00 P.M. with Masonic Services starting at 6:45 P.M. in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. with Bro. Phillip Kazee and Bro. Roger Cecil officiating. Graveside Services will be conducted on Tuesday Morning June 8, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in the Cecil Cemetery with full Military Honors being provided by the American Legion Post #136.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Powell, Tyler Manis, Jason Veal, Kris Chambers, Randy Sims, and Glen and Dean Francis.
