Thomas Marcus is the son of James W. Linam and Carloine D. Earle nee LITTLETON. Thomas Marcus was named for both of his grandfathers: Thomas Linam and Marcus Littleton. (grandparents names provided by Rob Walker)

(James was born July 18, 1797, in South Carolina, and died October 17, 1864 near Kemper's Bluff, Victoria Co., TX. Caroline was born August 20, 1804 in South Carolina. Many family histories show her death to be January 1, 1867 near Kemper's Bluff, Victoria Co., TX. There is an 1870 GA census that causes some confusion for her death date.

"Thomas Marcus Linam and family came to Concho County in 1878, here in time to help organize the county in 1879."
