This young fox is a kit from the litter of a female fox that has been raising her young just behind my house for years. That is until the loggers came and clear cut the land, forcing her to move to the other side of the road.

This is also the reason I had to build a fence for Molly, my dog. She was a sight dog, not a smell dog so it was easy for the fox to trick her, but I would not allow her to chase wild life.

The mother fox and I had been friends for some time. One fall when she got a porcupine quil in her muzzle it was hard for her to catch her food and eat. She would come within two feet of me and I would toss her hot dogs until the quill was gone, and she did not return once she could catch her own food. We had a special bond, but I respected her wild ways.

I regret to say that no fox have been spotted on my road this year (2012).
When humans have nothing better to do they seem to have to take their boredom out on wildlife. I have heard tales of things some people around here have been doing and I am not proud to call them "humans".
