Geneva Mae Masterson, the daughter of Elmer and Effie Cue Jessen was born January 3, 1934, in Exira, Iowa and died September 18, 2010, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 15 days.

Geneva was baptized and confirmed at the Exira Lutheran Church. She attended Exira Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1950.

On February 18, 1951, she was united in marriage to George W. Owen, Sr. at her parents' home in Exira. Four children Rosalie, George W. Owen, Jr., Sharolyn, and Joe were born to this union.

Geneva helped George operate his shoe repair business first when they lived in Malvern, Iowa and also later when they moved to Audubon, Iowa. Geneva also drove a school bus for the Audubon Community School District for many years. Later she moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa.

On December 21, 1973 she married Aage Bonnesen at the Valley Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They moved to Elk Horn, Iowa in 1974. Geneva operated an Avon business and also did custodial work for the Elk Horn Lutheran Church.

Aage died February 25, 2002. Geneva returned to live in Council Bluffs to be near her son Joe.

In 2007 she married Bill Masterson in the community room in the North Avenue Tower where they resided. They enjoyed their retirement visiting different restaurants, going to the casinos and the dog track. Bill died in 2008. Geneva then moved to the Prime Square Apartments.

Geneva had been a long time member of the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira and had been attending the First Christian Church in Council Bluffs.

Geneva loved to bake and sew and enjoyed crocheting. But above all, she loved being with her family.

Preceding her in death were her husbands: George W. Owen, Sr., Aage Bonnesen, and Bill Masterson; her daughter Rosalie Owen, her sister Viola Hansen and her brother Richard Jessen.

She is survived by her children George W. Owen, Jr. and wife Kathy of Ashland, Nebraska, Shari and husband Jim Devine of Papillion, Nebraska, and Joe and wife Kim Owen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her grandchildren George W. Owen, III and wife Courtney of Millard, Nebraska, Ryan and wife Cheryl Devine of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joanne and husband Rex Moseley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brandon Owen and Joe Owen, Jr. both of Council Bluffs; 6 great grandchildren; her brother and sisters Ruth Crouch of Manilla, Iowa, Ruby Crowly of Audubon, Iowa, Darlene Elwood and Gary and wife Vickie Jessen all of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Pastor David Erickson of the First Christian Church in Council Bluffs and Intern Rory Phillips of Exira at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira.
