WILLIAM 'BILL' ASHENFELTER
June 9, 1928 - April 29, 2005
RUSSIAVILLE -- William J. "Bill" Ashenfelter, 76, Russiaville, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, at his home. He was born June 9, 1928, in Dexter, Mo., the
son of Earl and Viola (Hoffman) Lemmons. He was raised by his adopted father Jack Ashenfelter and his mother Viola. He married Doris (Self) on June 9,
1947, in Toledo, Ohio. She died March 21, 1974. He then married Becky (Miller) on Nov. 28, 1982, in Sarasota, Fla. She survives. He worked as a plasterer
and a general contractor most of his life. He was a 1946 graduate of Swanton High School, Swanton, Ohio. He attended Faith Church of Christ in Burlington.
He was a former member and past president of the Metropolitan Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Pioneer Auto Club. He had lived in Ohio and
Florida before moving to Russiaville in 1986. He drew great comfort from the endearing friendships he developed through his love of music.
Surviving are his wife, Becky; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Connie Ashenfelter, Flora; four daughters, Joyce Martenies of Pawley's Island, S.C.,
Cheryl Schmidt and her husband, Joe, Swanton, Ohio, Sally Rutledge and her husband, Mike, Sarasota, Fla., and Kim Ashenfelter, Noblesville; one brother,
Duaine Ashenfelter, Kokomo; nine grandchildren, David Ashenfelter, Candace Gillen, Dr. Erica DeVires, Kelly Martenies, Kristin Padalik, Elissa Schmidt,
Frank "Deuce" Martenies, Lindsay Rutledge and Kaleena Schmidt; four great-grandchildren, Tony Ashenfelter, Cylee Gillen, Sarah Emmi and Hannah
Padalik; and one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved pets, Bubba, Sam, Lady and Erin. Services are 3 p.m.
Tuesday at Faith Church of Christ, 1701 S. Michigan St., Burlington. Steve Cole and Nate Perkins will officiate. Burial will be in New London Cemetery. Friends
may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kokomo Humane
Society, Bona Vista Relay for Life Team, or the Keys for Kids Preschool Scholarship Fund at Bona Vista. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
