The Passing of one of Wellsville's Old Residents and Best Known Women
Sarah Gilbert Rosa was the daughter of Bennett and Nancy Rowland, and was born in Bath, N.Y. August 17, 1836. She died at Wellsville, N.Y. February 14, 1910 in the 74th year of her age.
Mrs. Rosa came to Wellsville with her parents about 1852 and, excepting a dozen years following her marriage, resided here until her death.
On January 24, 1860 she married Rev. Edward D. Rosa, at that time pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Wellsville, going to live in the then newly completed parsonage of the church which stood on the site of the present church edifice. .....(edited half of obit and placed on memorial of husband)
Besides attending faithfully to the duties of her home, Mrs. Rosa was active and efficient as a pastor's wife in the several appointments to which they were sent.
In the fall of 1873 Mrs. Rosa with her two sons aged 12 and 10 respectively returned to Wellsville and has resided here continually since.
