DEATH OF MRS. T. B. CLARK
Mrs. T. B. Clark, one of the earliest settlers in Kingman county, passed away in death at her late home near Newkirk, Oklahoma, on the 4th day of July, 1908, aged nearly 88 years. In accordance with a requesr made before her death her body was brought to this county for interment by the side of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Lashment, who also lies sleeping in Walnut Hill cemetery. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 7, at 2 o'clock P. M., at the M. E. church in this city, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. W. Cummings.

Deceased had many acquaintances among the earlier settlers on Smoots creek, in White township, where she at one time was a resident and where her daughters also resided. Three of her daughters are the wives of the Kelley brothers, Ross, Emory, 'Fayette, one is the wife of I. W. Rush of Stroud, Oklahoma, and one is the wife of Albert Combs of White township, all having been pioneers of the Smoots Creek valley when this county was in its infancy. All of the daughters mentioned were present at the funeral and burial services. The following short obituary has been collected by Rev. Cummings from the meagre detail obtainable:

"Jane Wells was born in the state of Ohio in the year 1820. At the age of nineteen years she was joined in marriage with Joseph W. Smith of Wisconsin in the year of 1839. Mr. Smith's death occurred in 1877, after a wedded companionship of 38 years. Six years later the widow was joined in marriage with T. B. Clark, whos death occurred some nineteen years later, he dying in the year 1902. Since the death of Mr. Clark she has made her home with her children in Kansas and Oklahoma. On Saturday, July 4, 1908, while near Newkiirk, Oklahoma, she took her departure from the earth and her long pilgrimage of 88 years was over. For a great many years she was a member of the United Brethren church, but since 1903 she has been connected with the Congregational church at Hobart, Oklahoma. Those who knew her Christian life believe she has gone to join the Church Triumphant."
