A native of North Carolina, but had lived in Cherokee Falls for 34 years; wife of the late Thomas Peterson who passed away in 1957; granddaughter of the late Jonas Brown.
A member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church.
Survived by four daughters, Carrie Ethel Peterson (1899–1988), Lois Elizabeth Peterson (1913–1992), Mrs. A.M. Patterson, and Mildred Peterson Owens (1920–2005); three sons, Vernon Peterson (1903–1967), Carl Anderson Peterson (1907–1975), and Claude Nesbitt Peterson (1925–2003); brother, Hampton Brown; half-brother, Johnny Parker; 21 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 1962, at Cherokee Falls Baptist Church by the Revs. Broadus Heatherly, H.C. Dixon, and Claude White; burial in Draytonville Church Cemetery.
