Mary T. Haverkamp, 79, of Ft. Dodge, Ia., died Tuesday evening, Oct. 1, 1991, at the Marian Home following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Ft. Dodge, with the Rev. Albert O. Grendler officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Remsen.
Mary Theresa Freking was born June 3, 1912, at Le Mars. She attended country schools in the Le Mars area. Following her education, she worked at home.
She married Leo Haverkamp in 1935 at St. Joseph's Church, Le Mars. The couple lived on a farm south of Remsen. In 1958, they moved to Fort Dodge. For 33 years, they owned and operated the North Central Telephone Company of Badger.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Marian Home Auxiliary, the North Central Chapter of United Blind of Iowa, and the Crusillo and Opus Spititus Sancti.
Survivors include her husband, Leo; sons, Leon, Wichita, Kan., and Mark, Omaha, Nebr.; daughters, Delores Nealon, Omaha, Sister Janet Haverkamp, O.S.F. , Crescent City, Calif., Joanne Abel, Graceville, Minn., and Lois Dann, Omaha; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Joseph H. Freking, Remsen, and Ben Freking, Greg Freking, and Leo Freking, all of Le Mars; and sisters, Caroline Freking, Le Mars, and Agnes Waldschmidt, Remsen.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Freking; and a sister, Frances Bohnenkamp.
Memorials could be left to the Marian Home, Fort Dodge.
