Harold married Ruby Jean Hettick 21 Sep 1940, Phillipsburg, Phillips, Kansas at her sisters home. He served in the Navy during WWII, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. Here their first daughter, Ann Elizabeth, was born. Ann pasted away in Hays, Kansas in 1949, just shy, by a month, of her 5th birthday. After the war he and "Jeannie" move to Coulee Dam, Washington, where he taught high school to the construction workers children. He went on to teach high school in Snohomish, Washington, finally moving to Yakima in 1955.

Harold E. (Bob) Roberts, 50, longtime Yakima area educator, died suddenly Saturday in Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Roberts was born in Hermiston, Ore. and had lived in the Yakima area for 10 years, making his home at 16 Belgold Drive in Yakima. He taught at Broadway and Stanton Junior High for seven years and for the past three years was a fifth grade instructor in the Granger School District.

He was past president of the Stamp Club, past president of the Yakima County Education Association and was a member of the National and Washington Education Associations. He was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Mr. Roberts received his bachelor's degree from Colorado College at Colorado Springs and his master's degree from Colorado College of Education at Greeley.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Roberts and a daughter, ___________, both of Yakima, and two brothers, Norman Roberts, Yakima and Frederick Roberts, Boise, Idaho. Shaw & Sons Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Roberts - Funeral services for Mr. Harold E. (Bob) Roberts, 50, will be conducted Tuesday, October 12th, at 11 a.m.in the First Methodist Church. Rev. Ac Wischmeier will officiate and interment will be in Tahoma Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wally Harmon, John Kerslake, Jack McGuire, Melvin Beck, A.F. Rosenkranz and Bob Allen. SHAW & SONS FUNERAL HOME in charge.
