Marriage -"Bay Shore, L.I., June 10, 1898 - The wedding of George V. Sloat of Southampton and Miss Annie Beatrice King of Patchogue, occurred a few days ago at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bailey, of Patchogue. The bride was a niece of Mr. and Mrs. Bailey, and had lived with them for twelve years. The Rev. Father Cronin of St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church of Patchogue, officiated at the ceremony. There were one hundred or more guests present at the wedding ceremony. Mrs. Sloat is a cousin of Mrs. J.C. Stephenson of Patchogue."
On September 12, 1918, George Van Winkle Sloat, aged 43, stated that he lived at 50 N. Song Beach Avenue, Freeport, Long Island, NY, with his wife, Anna B. Sloat. He also stated that he was self-employed as the owner of a garage located on Main Street and Olive Blvd., Freeport, NY.
Obituary - "George W. Sloat, 82, formerly of Patchogue, died last Thursday at the Ross Sanitorium in Brentwood, after an illness. A retired druggist, Mr. Sloat was a member of the Freeport Lodge of Elks and the Freeport Church of the Transfiguration. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Sloat, and a son, George E., both of Baltimore; a daughter, Mrs. Millicent Pierman of Bellport; a brother, Howard, of New York City, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at C.W. Ruland Sons Funeral chapel, Patchogue. the Rev. Domenic K. Chiannella, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal church, Patchogue, officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery."
