Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Monday, December 22, 1975: "Frostburg-Mrs. Mary Stapleton, 84, formerly of Frostburg, died this morning at the Cumberland Nursing Home where she had been a patient four years. Born in Frostburg, she was a daughter of Edward and Margaret (Mullaney) Winner. Her husband, John Patrick Stapleton, preceded her in death. Mrs. Stapleton was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Sodality. Surviving are one brother, Charles Winner, Mt. Savage; three sisters, Miss Bernice Winner, Frostburg, and Mrs. Raymond Burkey and Mrs. S. K. Carroll, both of Cumberland, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m."

Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Tuesday, December 23, 1975: "Frostburg-Mass of the Christian Burial for Mrs. John Patrick Stapleton, 84, formerly of here who died yesterday in the Cumberland Nursing Home, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in St. Michael's Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond Burkey, George Hast, James Hast, Aloysius Winner, Frank Mullaney and Joseph Lynch. Christian wake service will be held at 8 p.m. today in the Durst Funeral Home. Friends will be received there from 7 to 9 p.m."
