Mrs. Margaret Carroll
Mrs. Margaret Ellen (Winner) Carroll, 85, formerly of 17 Wempe Drive died Monday in Cumberland Villa Nursing Home. Born in Frostburg September 29, 1901, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Mullaney Winner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon K. "Louie" Carroll.
Mrs. Carroll was a graduate of St. Michael's High School, Frostburg State College, and the University of Maryland. A retired music teacher in the Allegany County Public School system, she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Sodality of the Church, and the national, state, and county Retired Teachers associations.
Surviving are one son, Thomas E. Carroll, Cumberland; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Lucas, Rehoboth Beach, DE; Mrs. Eileen Clark, Germantown, MD, 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be Dennis Clarke, Michael Clarke, Stephen Clarke, Kevin Carroll, William Lucas Jr. and Robert Drevo.
The Rosary will be recited in the funeral home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Margaret Winner was Simon Kenny 'Louie' Carroll's 2nd wife whom he married in 1938. His first wife, Mary M. Pendergast was the mother of his children (Peggy, Eileen, Mary Lou, and Tommy). Mary Pendergast Carroll died in 1936 and is buried at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Cumberland.
