Alexander Hosick was born in the Scottish Highlands and came to America probably as a child with his family. He settled in what is now West Virginia and served in the Revolution. After the war, he married Sarah Tolle and after the birth of at least their first two children, the family came to Madison Co, Kentucky, later moving on to Livingston Co, Kentucky where Sarah likely had relatives. A large farm was maintained here and on the property two small family cemeteries were established. The land has changed hands several times since and the graves were recorded but many stones were removed and broken for gravel. Family tradition and the research of E. E. Trimble in 'Hosick Families,' maintain that Sarah and Alexander were buried on their property in one of these small sites in view of the home and near a scatteing of their children.
