Miss Mabel Root, 57, of 312 North Court street, died at the St. Joseph Hospital at 11 p.m. Friday. She was born in Ottumwa May 13, 1895, the daughter of Frank Lane and Clara Squire Root. Miss Root had been a life-time resident of Ottumwa. She was a graduate of the Ottumwa high school and a member of the First Lutheran church.
She is survived by one sister, Miss Mary Root of Chicago; and two brothers, Dr. Howard Root of Boston, Mass, and Oscar M. Root of North Andover, Mass.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. Malvin H. Lundeen, pastor of the First Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Ottumwa cemetery.
