Mary E. Root, of Chicago, died Sunday having been in failing health for several years.
The former Ottumwan was the daughter of Frank and Clara Squire Root. Survivors inlude a nephew, Allen Smith of St. Mo. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Root.
A graveside service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Ottumwa Cemetery. The Jay Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
