Curtis Leroy Pilcher was the second of six children born to Josiah Micagah Pilcher and Lillie May Fleming Pilcher. The family had been living in Kiowa County, OK when his older brother was born, and they also appear in the 1910 Census living in Hobart, Kiowa County, OK. But Curtis was born in Kansas in 1909; we don't know if the family was visiting someone in Kansas when he made his appearance, or if they'd moved for a very short time to the state and then returned to OK after his birth. I am his grandniece and am determined to figure out the facts.

Curtis Leroy had a grammar school education; he worked in construction as a machinery operator. On April 23, 1943, while he was married to his first wife Laura Carson and living in Kansas, he enlisted in the US Army at Salt Lake City, UT. His enlistment was for "the duration of the war or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law."

Curtis was tall like his father; on his enlistment papers he is noted as 76", or 6'4", tall.

Curtis Leroy and his wife Laura had 5 children, three of whom died at birth or shortly after. His living children are Daniel Cleve Pilcher, born in 1954, and Curtis D Pilcher, born 1958.

At the time of his death, Curtis Leroy was living in Nevada. I do not currently have records for him between 1943 and 1970, but I will update his obit information if I do find answers to fill in all the missing time.
