Born in Upper St. Clair Twp, Allegheny Co PA, a daughter of James Morrow and Sarah Hanna. Jane married James Johnston. The couple resided in Peters Twp, Washington Co PA. Eight children: Sara, Robert, Nancy, Jane, James, Margaret and twins Eliza and Mary.

Buried next to her husband, Her inscription reads: "JANE JOHNSTON BORN Aug. 16, 1789. DIED Oct. 9, 1863."
