Daughter of Frank & Isabelle (Schaefer) Albracht.
She attended St. Bernard grade school. On February 25, 1930 she was united in marriage to Edward T. Backes at St. Bernard Catholic Church rural Lindsay. The couple lived and farmed near Lindsay until moving to Columbus in 1955. Clara worked for Dale Electronics for 20 years. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Theresa Sodality, and St. Anthony Quilting Club. Clara enjoyed crocheting and quilting and made numerous afghans for wedding presents. She also enjoyed playing bingo, cards, baking pies and being with all her grandchildren who she loved very much.
