Kathleen Jones, 87, of McAlester, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Solara Hospital in Shawnee. Born April 21, 1925, in Ashland, she was the daughter of Clyde and Essie Christian Walkup. She attended schools in the Ashland area. She married Robert Jones on Jan. 6, 1943, in McAlester. They moved to the Oklahoma City area in the late 1950s and then returned to McAlester in 1960. She was of the Baptist faith. She really enjoyed flowers and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Robert Jones, of McAlester; two daughters, Bobbie Kay Borders, Allen, Texas, and Kathy Lynn Jones, Dallas; and one son, Gary Don Jones, of Oklahoma City. Also, two grandchildren, Michelle Barrick, Allen, Texas, and Melanie Storts, Allen, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Melissa Barrick, Allen, Texas, Daniel Barrick, Allen, Texas, and Luke Storts, Allen, Texas. And, one brother, Robert Walkup, of Coalgate, and two sisters-in-law, Lenore Walkup, of McAlester, and Bernice Walkup, of Coalgate. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; Bertie Tinker and Janice Meeks, and two brothers, Eual Walkup and Joe Walkup. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, at the Bishop Chapel of Memories with Pastor Stuart Rising officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tracy Graham, Todd Graham, Tyler Graham, Ron Meeks, Tim Meeks and Tim Barrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Jones, Bryan Jones and Farris Jones. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
