Kathryn Walsh, Melrose, dies

Mrs. Kathryn Winifred Walsh, 90, of Melrose, died Wednesday at the Albia Manor where she had been a resident for four years.

Mrs. Walsh as born Oct. 16, 1886, in Monroe County, the daughter of James and Mary Judge Flattery.

She married Matthew Walsh at Georgetown. He died in 1945. She lived most of her married life on a farm west of Melrose and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Melrose.

Surviving are three sons, Eugene of Melrose, Matthew of Des Moines, and Edward of Centerville; two daughters, Mary Gerl of Newald, Wisc., and Helen Walsh Of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mamie Kosman and Rose Coady, both of Albia, and Alice Lemaster of Albino, Wyo.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Eugene Hoenig officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Georgetown. The rosary will be Friday at 8 p.m. at the Humeston Funeral Home.
