RUBY MAE BYRD CLANTON, 91, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on June 16, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN. Services will be held Thursday June 19, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia, MS with burial following in Cathey Cemetery near Wyatte, MS. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. Mrs. Clanton was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wesley Clanton; her parents, Rufus Damascus and Olivia Jane Byrd; her sister, Mattie Ozeath Clanton; and her brothers, William Mildred Byrd, Willie Milton Byrd and Rufus Damascus Byrd, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Janie Cope of Wyatte, MS, Allie Weaver and Freda Lester (Sam), both of Millington, TN and Peggy Stigall of Marion, IL; her sons, Charles Clanton (Paula) of Troy, TN, Bobby Clanton and Roy Clanton (Christy), both of Millington, TN; her sister-in-law, Dora Byrd of Wyatte, MS; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great-grandchildren.
