Her name can be found on Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania and on National September 11 Memorial in Manhattan, New York. Born Hildegarde Zill in Schwedelbach, Germany, Mrs. Marcin came to the United States when she was eight years old. She married Edward Marcin in 1943 and was widowed in 1979. During World War II she handled payroll at a federal government shipyard in Kearney, New Jersey. She spent twenty years as the manager of a union's retirement and welfare fund. The job she loved the most, though, was being a special education instructional aide working with children who had been abused or were from drug-addicted families. Mrs. Marcin worked in this capacity for fourteen years at a school in Mount Olive, New Jersey. She was the mother of daughters Elizabeth Kemmerer and Carole O'Hare. At the time of her death, Mrs. Marcin was a 79-year old retiree living in Mount Olive, New Jersey. She was flying to California to live with her younger daughter. Her two daughters were planning a surprise party for her 80th birthday in December of 2001. (Bio by Melanie)
