Walhalla, SC--Sybil Jane Marcengill Alexander, 69, went to her heavenly father on Monday, August 24, 2009. Mrs. Alexander was born on August 5, 1940 to the late Rufus and Vera Marcengill. Jane worked for Dr. William P. Jenkins for twenty-five years until she retired. Jane spent many years teaching children's Sunday school and was always involved in children's activities at church. She was devoted to her faith, devoted to her husband and devoted to all the many children she loved. She was a kind, gentle and loving person who lived her faith every day.

Mrs. Alexander is survived by her husband of 50 years, Reverend Maurice Alexander; two brothers, Buck (Rose) Marcengill and Danny (Sandra) Marcengill; and one sister, Helen (Robert) Frederick. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Ann Frederick, Hazel Chastie, Ina Ruth McQueen and Rachel Carroll; and one brother, Roy Marcengill. Mrs. Alexander's graveside service will be held Thursday, August 27 at 2 PM at Alexander's Cemetery. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, Oconee County Council, c/o Phyllis King at 808 Ploma Drive, Seneca, SC 29678.
