Daniel Giddens was the son of Isaac Giddens (1782-1866). He was a Baptist minister. From 1866-1872, he was a "Moderator" and gave sermons at the Strong River Baptist Church, which actually was a group of Baptist Congregations around the Jackson, Mississippi area.

He married Susan F. McFarland, (the daughter of Gazaway Davis McFarland and Mary Poe, and the widow of Richmond Mack Sheppard) in Rankin County, Mississippi on 1 Oct 1862. This union produced four children:
*Andrew J. "Drew" Giddens (b. 8 Oct. 1864)
*Annie M. Giddens (b. 17 Dec. 1866)
*Isaac Newton "Ike" Giddens (b. 11 Apr. 1869)
*Idah S. "Ida" Giddens (b. 20 Nov. 1871)

He died in 1871 and the congregation took up an offering
for the widow of Daniel Giddens in 1872 and 1874.

It is not known where exactly he was buried, but speculation is that he was either buried at The Strong River Baptist Church where he preached, or that he was buried with his wife, Susan at her families' farm in the countryside of Hinds County.
