Leora Phillips Acres 20 May 1919 - 8 Oct 2010 Leora Acres, 91, of Oneida, passed away October 8, 2010, at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville. Born May 20, 1919, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Margaret West Phillips; her husband and father of her daughters, Hurstle Chambers; husband, Oscar Cotton; husband, Argie Acres; several brothers, and one sister. She was a member of the Pine Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by daughters: Margaret Davis and husband, Herbert, of Oneida, and Barbara Posey and husband, Everett, of Knoxville; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters: Nell Claborn of Oneida, and Ruby West of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; sisters: Cora Chitwood and Devorah Lovett, both of Oneida, and Mertie Chambers and husband, Tommy, of Knoxville; Several step-children, church family, and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted October 10, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Marcum and Dr. David McNabb officiating. Music was provided by Pine Creek Baptist Church Choir. Graveside services was conducted October 11, at Pine Hill Cemetery. West-Murley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. (Source: The Independent Herald, 14 Oct 2010, pA7)
