She was born October 17, 1918 in Utica daughter of James P. and Lena Callahan Barry. Lee's birth mother, Lena, passed away shortly after giving birth. As a baby, Lena was cared for by her Grandma Kinney, then raised by her father and mother, Mary Ewen Barry. She married Wayne A. McGrew November 22, 1941. He died in 1988.
Lee was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.
She enjoyed helping people and was a volunteer at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center and also for many years with Widow-Widowers group which was led by Sr. Rose Troy. Lee also loved the time she spent at her camp "Four Winds" in the Adirondacks.
She is survived my numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers Jim and Jack Barry and her four sisters, Bib Hauck, Pat Carney, Joan Pupa and Terry Barry.
The family wishes to thank all of Lee's friends at Cedarbrook for all of their support and to all of her caregivers at the Aspen Unit of the Presbyterian Home.
The funeral will be on Tuesday at 9 AM at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford and at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours are on Monday from 5-7 PM.
