Patricia was born in Utica on September 9, 1930 a daughter of the late James P. and Mary (Ewen) Barry. She was raised and educated locally and was a 1951 graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy. At Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica on October 6, 1951 Patricia married G. Robert Carney, a blessed union of 53 years until his passing on May 11, 2004. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, North Utica, and a past member Perpetual Adoration Society. Patricia loved reading and enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons doing the NY Times Crossword puzzle. Patricia's greatest joy however, was the precious time she spent with her family.
Patricia is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law; Donna and Remi Charlebois, Jr., N.Utica, Diane Stewart, Endwell, NY, and Linda and John lee, Boonville, three sons and daughters-in-law; Thomas and Kathleen Carney, Endwell, NY, Paul and Sherry Carney, Deerfield, and Jeffrey and Cindy Carney, Morganville, NJ, 17 grandchildren; Tim and Michele , Chris and Heather, Remi III and Joanna Charlebois ,Ryan, Tara, Sean, and T.J. Carney, Devon and Brenon Stewart, Lauren and Mary Beth Carney, Jennie, Jared, Tracy and Christie Lee, Troy and Shayna Carney, 6 great grandchildren; Anthony, Alexis, Alyssa, Remi IV, Ryan and Ryshon, three sisters; Lee McGrew, New Hartford, Bib Hauck, GA, and Joan Pupa, New Hartford, two sisters-in-law; Mel Barry, WI, and Peggy Carney, Rochester, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors.
Patricia was predeceased by 2 brothers; James Barry Jr. and Jack Barry and a sister; Teresita Barry.
Mrs. Carney's funeral will be held on Saturday March 1, 2008 at 12:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., Utica and at 1:00 from St. Peter's Church, N.Utica. A spring burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday evening (Today) from 5-7 and Saturday morning from 11:00-12:15. In lieu of flowers those so wishing may make donations to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department or Hospice & Palliative Care in Patricia's memory.
