Esther Mildred JACKSON graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She worked at John Hopkins in Baltimore for a while and then to Little Rock, Arkansas. She came back to Frostburg and worked at Miners Hospital until she had to retire because of poor health.
Esther loved to travel and she and her friend Martha went someplace every year - Mexico, Las Vegas, Canada, etc. When the Thompsons were stationed in Germany, they visited them for few weeks. Her last trip was to Ireland with her brother Ed and his wife Joan.
One thing she liked to do was to shop, thinking perhaps that it was a sin not to buy something. She was a "soft touch" for all of her nieces and nephews though she pretended to be the opposite.
