MERLE L MOORE: 67, of Grand Island NE died Sunday 26 May 1991 at the Bishop Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. MrMoore was born 3 Dec 1923 in Alma NE, a son of Herman & Blanche Parker Moore. He grew up & received h is education in Alma, graduating from high school there in 1941. He served in the US Navy during WW2 from 1942-1945 in the Pacific Theatre. He married Dorothy Wallace at Portsmouth VA on 16 Aug 1945 while he was stationed there. After his discharge, they returned to Alma where he ran a plumbing business. He was called back to active duty during the Korean War. After he was released from active duty, they lived for several years at Newport News VA. In 1966 they moved to Grand Island where he was co-owner of Jensen-Moore Plumbing Co. He retired as a building engineer at Norwest Bank in 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Grand Island Master Plumbers Assoc, the Saddle Club & Eagles Lodge 378.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Grand Island; 2 daughters: Donna (SP-Craig) Scherzberg-RapidCity SD & Barbara (SP-Loren) Lewandowski-Grand Island NE; 5 grandchildren & 3 sisters: Lela Hurley & Neta (SP-Jack) Jensen-Grand Island; & Lola (SP-Calvin) Erhardt-Jefferson City MO. He was preceded in death by his parents & 2 brothers.
Memorial services were held Wednesday morning May 29th at First Baptist Church with RevKevin Killion officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
