Joseph changed his name to Maglein to more closely approximate the pronunciation. Soon after marrying, he moved to eastern Washington, then later settling in Everett, Washington. For many years in the early 20th century he was a miner in Dawson City and Fairbanks, Alaska. He finally settled in Duluth about 1929.
