Elizabeth G. Long, 90, of 261 Parkway Ave., Winchester, VA, died Thursday, April 23, 1998 at her residence.

Mrs. Long was born May 3, 1907 in Weyers Cave, VA, the daughter of Alfred and Fleta Glover.

She attended the State Normal School in Harrisonburg, which is now James Madison University. After graduating she taught school, at both James Wood Elementary, and Virginia Avenue Elementary, before retiring in 1969.

She has been a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church since 1945, where she also taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Godfrey Miller Fellowship, and a life time member of the Women Society of the Methodist Church.

She married Arlie C. Long on June 20, 1929 in Weyers Cave, VA. Mr. Long died in 1978.

Surviving is a daughter, Peggy Long Egertson of Malvern, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel G. and Gail D. Long of Frederick County; two brothers, Boyd Glover of Waynesboro, VA and Russell Glover of Mt. Crawford, VA; a sister, Margaret Bowman of Harrisonburg; three grandchildren, Eric C. Egertson of Andover, MA, Amy Thron of Aspen, CO, and Sheri Long Woody of Raleigh, NC, and seven great-grandchildren. One grandson, Samuel G. Long Jr. is deceased.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 25, 1998 at 11:30 a.m. at the Braddock Street United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Shenandoah Memorial Park with the Rev. John T. LeGault officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Braddock Street United Methodist Church, 115 Wolfe Street, Winchester, VA 22601 or Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
