Russell Pershing Glover, 97, of Mount Crawford, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016, at his home.

He was born in Weyers Cave, VA on November 30, 1918, and was a son of the late Alfred Rider and Fleta (Stoner) Glover.

Russell was the owner and operator of Kitch'n Cook'd Potato Chip Co. in Staunton for 17 years. He was a member of Mount Crawford United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Dayton American Legion Post No. 27. Russell was an active member of the Mount Crawford Ruritan Club since 1946 and had 70 years of perfect attendance. He served on the advisory committee of the Salvation Army, was a member of UCT and the Moose.

He was united in marriage on March 23, 1942, to Marjorie Louise (Hottel) Glover, who preceded him in death on May 4, 2013.

Surviving are four children, Kitty Pope of Bridgewater, Annette Watts and husband, Phil, of Marquette, Mich., Betty Cornwell and husband, Ronney, of Mount Crawford and Roland Glover and wife, Diana, of Keezletown. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Connie Pope, Rusty Cornwell and fiancée, Chasity, Jami Cornwell and Salem Prince and husband, Loren; four great-grandchildren, Zoey Prince, Anya Prince, Avery Cornwell and McKenzie Cornwell; and his brother in Christ and best buddy, Jerry McCammon.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at Mount Crawford United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2016, with the Rev. Russell Heinrich officiating with military rites by the Dayton American Legion Post No. 27. Russell will be cremated and burial will be private.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, P.O. Box 468, Harrisonburg, VA 22803, or the charity of your Choice.
