Micajah was appointed first postmaster of Anderson, SC, even before Anderson County was created by the legislature of 1828. Micajah served as postmaster from April 9, 1827 to Sept. 23, 1833.

Micajah and his brother-in-law, John P. Benson, built the first hotel in Anderson. Micajah Webb was named for Uncle Micajah Webb back in Greensville County, VA

Micajah was born Feb. 4, 1797, and died of pneumonia on February 5, 1850, at the home of his sister, Frances Webb Clark, near Kosciusko, Mississippi.

First Baptist Church of Anderson was built on the lot in Anderson which had been donated by Micajah Webb.
