Mrs. Gast, one of Summit's old settlers, passed quietly away at her home at Great Bend Friday afternoon. She was buried in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. John Gast died on Friday last at her home here. Deceased had been a sufferer for the past year with stomach trouble and gradually grew worse until death came as a relief to her suffering. Mrs. Gast was well known here as a ready helper to all, being happy and cheerful until her final illness. She will be missed by all her friends and relatives.
The funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church and the remains were laid at rest in St. John's Cemetery in Summit Township. Five sons and a husband are left to mourn the loss of a loving and dutiful mother and wife, and they have our sympathy in their sad bereavement.
