TURBOTVILLE - Pearl L. Yoder, 86, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012, in the comfort of her home at 3905 state Route 54, Turbotville.
Born Feb. 25, 1926, in Bannerville, she was the daughter of the late Lester Oliver Baker and Hattie Edna Pearl (Narehood) Baker. She and her husband, Robert W. Yoder, were married on June 10, 1950, and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.Pearl devoted her life to making a loving home for her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was a member of Holy Spirit Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as church and parish treasurer for 35 years. She also served on the church council and was Sunday school treasurer for many years.Pearl was a former Brownie and Girl Scout leader for Turbotville Troop 59, and previously owned Pearl's Yarn Array, in the Turbotville area. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, baking and gardening.
In addition to her husband, Robert, Pearl is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Edna P. Basilio and her husband, Raymond, of Landenberg, and JoAnn N. McMinn and her husband, Howard, of Reedsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jay R. Yoder and his wife, Terri, of Turbotville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Yoder, Heather Harrison, Justin Yoder, Adrienne Grube, Sarah Adcock and Gina Seningen; six great-grandchildren, Dakota Harrison, Emily Yoder, Logan Harrison, Tyler Grube, Camden Yoder and Hannah Seningen;
one sister, Faylene Ellis, of Mesa, Ariz.; and one sister-in-law, Betty Baker, of Washingtonville.
Pearl was preceded in death by: four brothers, Erie Swanger, Cloyd Baker, Lester Roy "Jack" Baker and Steward Baker; and two sisters, Hazel Swanger and Violet Bates.
Friends are invited to call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Holy Spirit Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10275 Route 44, Turbotville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, with Pastor Dan May officiating. Burial will take place in Green Lawn
Memorial Park, Montgomery.
The family suggests contributions in her memory be made to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church Building Fund, PO Box 6, Turbotville, PA 17772, or to the VNA Health System Crossings Hospice, 21 West Independence St, Shamokin, PA 17872.
