The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Stringer Chapel at The Methodist Oaks, with the Rev. James McGee officiating.
Burial, directed by Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg, will be in Norway Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 21, 1929, in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late John Bunyan Baltzegar and the late Alean Price Baltzegar. She was a member of St. John's Methodist Church in Norway and a choir member. She also sang for weddings and funerals. She attended the Stringer Chapel at The Methodist Oaks. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Smith Schuessler.
Survivors include three children, Mary Carolyn Kelly and Bruce of Columbia, E. Leland Smith Jr. of Norway and Susan S. Watkins and Mark of Goodview, Va.; five grandchildren, Ashley, Lee, Lindsay, Mark and Selena; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Stringer Chapel before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the S.C. Diabetes Association, Attn. Juvenile Diabetes Department, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 110, Columbia, SC 29204.
