Sidra Mangus Davis died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at North Big Horn Hospital. She was surrounded by her children. She was 72 years old.
Sidra and her twin, Sandra, were born in Lovell on Jan. 12, 1940, to Clarence and Leola Mangus, joining a brother Ken and sisters Shirley and Garnet. Sylvia and John later joined the family.
Sidra grew up in Lovell, attending the Lovell schools. She loved being an LHS cheerleader and graduated from Lovell High School in 1958. Shortly after high school, she married Brent Davis on July 8, 1958. To this union was born three children: Brent Kirk, Michelle and Sandra Lyn. Together they lived in Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming, finally settling in Anchorage, Alaska.
While living in Alaska, Sidra worked as an executive secretary at Debenham Electric for 17 years. She later moved down to the lower 48 to be "Granny" to her grandchildren, first in Las Vegas and then Salt Lake City.
During her time in Salt Lake she became very interested in genealogy, completing 67 family history books for her family and friends. Sidra was kind, loving and always cared about others. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions, including Relief Society president.
She is survived by her three children, Brent Kirk (Barbara) of Cottage Grove, Minn., Michelle (Jim) Friedel of Las Vegas and Sandra Lyn (Jared) Turner of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; nine grandchildren: Ryan, Jimmy, Craig, Kirk, Brooke, Bryn, Scotlyn, McKoy and Regan; two great-grandchildren, J.R. and Jack; sisters Garnet Sorenson and Sylvia Crosby; a brother, John Mangus, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Leola Mangus; husband Brent; brothers Ken and Clarence Fay; sisters Shirley and Sandra and a grandson Gregory Brent Friedel.
