A 60-year-old Ellerslie man was found dead yesterday after he fell down a flight of steps from a bedroom to the kitchen of his home. Carl Edward Troutman was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital, where an autopsy was to be performed by Dr. Benedict Skitarelic, deputy county medical examiner. State Police, who investigated, said Mrs. Troutman was outside the house talking to a neighbor. The telephone at the Troutman home rang and Barbara Piper, 16, the neighbor's daughter, went to answer it. After she went into the house, the telephone stopped ringing and she found Mr. Troutman lying at the bottom of the steps. She called for her mother and Mrs. Troutman, who was taken to the local hospital for treatment. Mr. Troutman was found at the bottom of the steps about 5:15 p.m. The Cumberland News, March 4, 1976
