Charles R. Dewees, a resident of El Cajon, California, passed away near Sloan, Iowa. August 23, 1977. He had reached the age of 38 years, 10 months and 25 days. He was born September 28, 1938 at Leon, Iowa, the son of George R. and Doris M. Marvin Dewees. He was united in marriage to Shirley Johnson on December 19, 1970 at San Diego, California. Charles had served in the U.S. Navy for four years receiving his honorable discharge September
26, 1961. At the time of his death he had been employed as an electrician and was a member of the Electricians Union #23 of Sioux City, Iowa. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Sioux City, Iowa #752.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of El Cajon. California; two daughters, Deborah and Dawn and one son. David, all of Walla Walla, Wash.; his mother, Mrs. Doris Dewees of Creston, Ia.; one brother, Ernest Dewees of Des Moines, la.; two sisters, Mrs. David (Mary) Miller and Mrs. Bonny Campbell, both of Creston, la.-, his step-grandmother, Mrs. Ivan Marvin of Leon, Iowa.
Memorial services by Moose Lodge #752 of Sioux City, Iowa were held August 23, 1977 at 8 p.m. at the Pearson Funeral Chapel at Onawa, Iowa. Mrs. John Johnston was the organist. Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral home in Corning, August 27 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Steve Gate officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Corning, Iowa. Organ music was provided by Dorothy Cook. Pallbearers were Merlin Dixon, Ivan Dixon, Delmar Pelmulder, Larry Damewood, Richard Cantieri and Verlin Dicks Honorary pallbearers LeRoy Herring and Bob Law.
