William achieved the rank of Lieutenant in the Pennsylvania Line during the Revolutionary War and appears in Pennsylvania Archives, volume 23, series 3, page 472, "List of Pennsylvania Revolutionary Soldiers, Drawing Pensions but Living in New York." He began receiving the pension March 5, 1819 and is listed as residing in Washington County, New York.
His will is dated 11 Dec 1820, just two days before his death. He left his everything to his "beloved daughter, Jane Todd." It's probable that Jane was his only living family. Jane and her family had lived in Washington County, New York for close to forty years by the time of her father's death.
