Sam Bowman, a young pipefitter from Orange, Texas, was murdered, an innocent witness of the murder of R.B. Ben Holloway, he had just walked out of the saloon when someone fired a double barreled shotgun into the rear door of the saloon killing Holloway. They then turned the gun on Mr. Bowman, he was found about 100 yards from the saloon, he had been shot in the head.
Mr. Holloway's saloon was located five and a half miles west of Lake Charles in the little village of Lockport.
