Major League Baseball Player. He was a first baseman making his debut with the Chicago White Sox on April 14, 1910. For nine seasons, he played for the Chicago White Sox (1910, 1917-18), Washington Senators (1912-15) and Cleveland Indians in 1916. An excellent infielder, he led the American League in fielding percentage four times and was a member of the 1917 Chicago White Sox World Series Championship team. For his role as being a member of the 1919 World Series Black Sox Scandal, he was banned from Professional Baseball by Commissioner K. M. Landis. He ended his career with a record of 1,176 hits, 449 runs scored, 11 home runs, 557 runs batted in and a .277 batting average. He died of heart failure at age 82 in Calistoga, California.
